The Verdun Aquaponics Initiative is a citizen-led project designed to produce food using aquaponics and hydroponics systems in an urban environment.
Both systems are set-up and operational in the Verdun municipal greenhouses. They are maintained by volunteers who want to learn, teach, and experiment with the latest aquaponic techniques.
For more information, visit our Facebook page, which is in French.
The Urban Abondance Solidarity Coop (CAUS) began our aquaponics projects with a pilot system in the Douglas Mental Health Research Institute that operated for a year beginning in June 2015 . Watch our video on Youtube.
We also won a CÉCOSOL (Caisse d’économie solidaire Desjardins) scholarship from À Go on Change le Monde de l’INM in May 2013.
